Launching "My Turn"

by Charlene Morton

A couple of days ago, I posted on Facebook that I would be launching a new blog feature it is! My goal is to spotlight an adoptable pet each week, one who's waiting for their turn to go home with their forever family. I'm so happy to announce that Boomer is our first "My Turn" baby! I haven't had the opportunity to meet this sweet boy in person, but his sweetness just shines through!

This is Boomer, a 3-year-old, neutered Mastiff/Boxer mix. I've been told Boomer is just a big ol' energetic puppy, weighing in at around 80 pounds of adoring love. He is housebroken and knows basic commands. The ideal home for Boomer would be a place with plenty of room to run and play -- he keeps up with one of his sitters who is a marathon runner! He can be a bit excitable when playing with other dogs, so a larger canine brother/sister would be best, and he loves kids. Through networking, we can prevent this sweet boy from entering a shelter.

If your home is a fit for Boomer, e-mail me on my Contact page, and I'll put you in touch with his foster mom. Please share on your social media pages as well! Thank you! #myturn

Ho, ho, ho! (Already?!)

by Charlene Morton

I know, I know -- it's early October, and I'm talking about Christmas. What about Halloween and Thanksgiving?! I love those holidays, too! But, trust me, planning ahead for holiday portraits is essential. I've been fortunate enough to reserve some time at the crazy popular Gravel Road Traditions property in Mount Juliet on Saturday, November 29th. I have THREE spots left for holiday sessions filled with beautiful scenery and super cool props! These incredibly fun sessions include:

  • 45 minutes of time with yours truly and "The Precious" (a/k/a my camera stash)
  • Your good-looking group of up to four pets/people (pets must be leashed)
  • 10 digital images via download (with print release)
  • 30-day online gallery for sharing (password protected, if you wish)
  • Opportunity to purchase professional prints and custom holiday cards at a discount

This is certainly a great deal at $150! A deposit of only $25 is required, refundable only upon cancellation as a result of inclement weather. This offer is only available through October 25th, and as I said, I only have three spots left. When booking, you may reach me at or at (615) 962-7328, or you can simply click over to the Get In Touch page. Be sure to check out GRT's Facebook page, and I'll see you the afternoon of November 29th!

Today, I discovered a cool website -- This handy site searches for pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, and activities worldwide. My husband and I are still acclimating to this area -- we're Nashville newbies. So, I thought I would research what was offered. Wow, Nashville area folks LOVE their dogs -- plain and simple. I'd been told that several dog-friendly establishments existed in East Nashville, specifically restaurants. I still don't have my bearings on which areas of Nashville are east/west/north/south, but I did see a list of 70 (that's s-e-v-e-n-t-y) dog-friendly restaurants specifically in Nashville, with several more in the surrounding area.

Rated as five-bones establishments were:

Drifters BBQ
Star Bagel Cafe
Eastland Cafe (bet that it's East Nashville, LOL)
Patrick's Bistreax
Fido (how appropriate)
Cafe Fontanella

Who knew? Not me! But, I'm certainly happy to make this little discovery. Tell me about YOUR favorite pet-friendly restaurants, stores, and places in general! Be sure to comment below. 'Til next time...

Bark for Life!

by Charlene Morton

Before we moved to Murfreesboro, we took part in the The American Cancer Society Bark for Life event in Jonesborough -- Tennessee's oldest town, located in Northeast Tennessee. Taking place just a few short months after the loss of my dad to cancer, I was on a mission to raise awareness and funds for this event. My sweet Lola and I raised a good bit of money in my dad's memory -- so much so that she was one of 13 dogs to have her photo and story printed in the local Bark for Life calendar. The calendar was an idea specific to that area, BUT I have exciting news...

NASHVILLE is hosting the first annual Bark for Life event in the city! The fun begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18th, and lasts until 2:00. Please make plans to be at Pavilion East and bring your canine companions! The day will be filled with vendors (including yours truly), live music, demonstrations, dog/owner contests AND prizes! Peace Love Paws Photography is indeed donating a prize!

I also strongly encourage you to register your dog prior to the event. It will save you lots of time, and you have the opportunity to start a team and raise funds. Entry into the event is free for humans and a $10 donation per dog. That donation will also land you and your pal(s) a goodie bag -- and who doesn't love a goodie bag?

Tell you friends, and let's make this a day to remember, as well as a regular annual event! Come say hello, can't wait to meet you.
