Happy Birthday to You...and You...and YOU!

by Charlene Morton

Hey, all - long time, no see! Sorry I’ve been MIA, but I’m back and better than ever! In this blog post, I’d like to share some images with you from the birthday party for all dogs of the Johnson City Dog Park last Saturday. There were treats and prizes for canine and human alike, and my guess is probably close to 40+ dogs in attendance. What a great turnout! You can see all the fun images here.

By the way, if you’re local to Johnson City, Tennessee, and your dogs haven’t visited the dog park at Willow Springs, let me encourage you to do so. This is undoubtedly one of the nicest dog parks in the region - two acres of grassy slopes with special pools and water fountains for your dog, as well as covered seating for you! Membership is reasonably priced, and it includes key card access and a special tag to show the world your pooch knows the best place to party in Johnson City. ;) There is also a separate area for smaller and calmer dogs.

For more info, check out their Facebook page here or just search for “Johnson City TN Dog Park” in the Facebook app.

How sweet it is to be loved by you!

Did you miss out on the holiday sessions at Gravel Road Traditions in Mount Juliet? If you did, I have great news! I am currently in the process of nailing down a date for "Puppy Love" sessions at GRT in honor of Valentine's Day. They will be scheduled on a weekend afternoon in early February. GRT provices lots of lovey-dovey props and gorgeous backdrops. You'll have up to 45 minutes of time with yours truly, and you'll receive at least 10 digital images with a print release. The price of $175 includes a maximum combination of four pets/people. However, if your family is larger, arrangements can be made. A $50 deposit is required to hold your spot, with the remaining balance due on the big day! Call or e-mail me to reserve your session.

Today, I discovered a cool website -- BringFido.com. This handy site searches for pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, and activities worldwide. My husband and I are still acclimating to this area -- we're Nashville newbies. So, I thought I would research what was offered. Wow, Nashville area folks LOVE their dogs -- plain and simple. I'd been told that several dog-friendly establishments existed in East Nashville, specifically restaurants. I still don't have my bearings on which areas of Nashville are east/west/north/south, but I did see a list of 70 (that's s-e-v-e-n-t-y) dog-friendly restaurants specifically in Nashville, with several more in the surrounding area.

Rated as five-bones establishments were:

Drifters BBQ
Star Bagel Cafe
Eastland Cafe (bet that it's East Nashville, LOL)
Patrick's Bistreax
Fido (how appropriate)
Cafe Fontanella

Who knew? Not me! But, I'm certainly happy to make this little discovery. Tell me about YOUR favorite pet-friendly restaurants, stores, and places in general! Be sure to comment below. 'Til next time...
